How to Make Potatoes Dauphinoise?
1 tablespoon butter
1 lb 12 sliced waxy potatoes
1 crushed garlic clove
1 red onion, sliced
1 cup grated Swiss cheese
1½ cups heavy cream
salt and pepper
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Set up a 4-cup shallow ovenproof
dish. Grease the dish with the prepared butter.
In the base of the dish, arrange a
single layer of the potatoes until it covers the base fully.
Divide the garlic and onion into
two equal portions and the cheese into three equal portions.
Top the potato slices with one
portion of the garlic, one portion of the onion and one portion
of the cheese. Add in the salt and pepper according to taste.
Repeat the layering in the same
sequence. Finish with a layer of potatoes topped with grated
