Lemon Bean Recipe

How to Make Lemon Beans?


Serve: 6



3 lb/ 1360 g mixed green beans, fava beans and pole beans
7 1/2 tablespoons butter
6 tablespoons all purpose flour
2 cups vegetable stock
7 1/2 tablespoons dry white wine
4 1/2 tablespoons mixed herbs, chopped
9 tablespoons light cream
3 tablespoons lemon juice
grated zest of 1 lemon
salt and pepper


  • Put some salt in a pan of boiling water. Cook the beans in the boiling salted water for 15 minutes. Make sure they become tender. Drain the water away. Transfer to a warmed serving dish. Set aside.

  • Place a butter in a pan and melt it over medium heat. Add in the flour. Cook for 2 minutes while stirring constantly. Remove from the heat.

  • Stir in the stock and wine gradually to the cooked flour. Return to the heat. Stir while bringing the mixture to a boil. Remove from the heat.

  • Add in the mixed herbs, light cream, lemon zest and juice. Add some salt and pepper to taste.

  • Pour the sauce over the beans. Toss well to coat thoroughly.

  • Ready to serve.
