How to Make Chinese-Style Gingered Vegetables?


Serve: 4



2 tablespoons sunflower oil
2-inch peeled and grated piece ginger
2 sliced onions
8 oz frozen green
string beans, in small pieces
two 1 lb bag frozen mixed vegetables
1 1/3 cup water
4 tablespoons dark brown sugar
4 tablespoons cornstarch
8 tablespoons vinegar
8 tablespoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons ground ginger


  • Heat the oil in a wok.

  • Add in the grated ginger and sauté for 90 seconds. Transfer to the paper towels and drain the excessive oil

  • Slightly reducing the heat. Add in the vegetables and water to the wok.

  • Cover with a lid and cook for 8 minutes, Make sure the vegetables are tender but not floppy.

  • In a bowl, combine the sugar, cornstarch, vinegar, soy sauce, and ground ginger.

  • Increase the heat to medium. Add in the mixture to the vegetables. Simmer for 2 minutes. Stir consistently until thickened.

  • Return the ginger to the wok. Stir well. Heat through for 3 minutes.

  • Ready to serve.
