Caramelized Onion Tart Recipe

How to Make Caramelized Onion Tart?


Serve: 6



1/2 cup unsalted butter
20 oz thinly sliced onions
2 eggs
2/3 cup heavy cream
1 1/4 cups grated Swiss cheese
8-inch baked pie shells
3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
salt and pepper


  • Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.

  • Add in the onions and stir while cooking for 40 minutes or until they become caramelized and brown in color.

  • Remove the onions from the skillet.

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degree F.

  • In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs. Season with salt and pepper. Add in the cream, Swiss cheese and cooked onions and continue to beat until well mixed.

  • Pour the mixture into the baked pie shell. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese over and place on a baking sheet.

  • Transfer to the oven and bake for 18 minutes until it the filling turns brown.

  • Remove from the oven and let cool.

  • Ready to serve.
